Encrypting user data

Encrypting user data is very important for multiple reasons, ranging from GDPR compliance to security against data breaches.

In the event of a data breach, any stored sensitive information such as customer files and addresses can be optionally encrypted if you have an active subscription.

How is data encrypted

Each organization/tenant is provided a secure encryption key that exists only for them. All secure data is encrypted using that key.

Types of encrypted data

There are multiple types of data that are encrypted, see the following:

  • Uploaded files such as:
    • Drive files
    • Customer log files
    • Accounting data exports
  • Customer addresses

What data is not encrypted

Most use data is not encrypted due to various technical concerns. Such examples include:

  • Customer emails, required for searching
  • Customer names, required for searching
  • Certain images:
    • Product images
    • Bill template images
